<p>The present invention relates to the induction of male sterility in plants. Male sterility is induced by using viral vectors which are biologically contained, self-replicating and capable of the non-nuclear chromosomal transformation of a plant and which contain a nucleotide sequence capable of inducing male sterility. The invention further relates to viruses containing the viral vectors which are transmissible, i.e. infective. Plant are infected by the viruses of the invention in order to induce male sterility.</p> |
