The metal setting for a hole in a flat seal, for example for the combustion chamber through-hole in a cylinder-head seal, consists of an outer ring (13) with inner cone (16). An inner ring (14) is mounted on the inner cone (16) so that it moves axially and has an outer cone (15) with the same cone-angle. The cone angle of both rings (13,14) is greater than the friction cone angle. The cone surfaces have a slide coating. USE/ADVANTAGE - The outer and inner ring are pressed into each other to produce internal tension in the material produced by elastic expansion, giving high compressibility and back resilience.
