A process and device for determining biological activities in a sample, for instance a blood sample, is proposed in which there is a sealable vessel which contains a nutritive solution and serves to hold the sample, with devices which, in the presence of micro-organisms in the sample, facilitate metabolic processes during which the concentration of the substances transformable by the metabolism alters. In order to detect the changes in concentration there are optodes (3a, 3b, 3c) in contact with the sample and an exciting and detection device (8) allocated to the optodes to which is connected an assessment device (15) to determine the change in the concentration of the substances over time. |
