<p>A fluidized bed reactor capable of incinerating fuels with low ash-melting temperatures is provided. This invention averts premature shutdown of the process due to segregation and build-up of ash agglomerates routinely encountered when burning low-melting fuels in a fluidized bed reactor. A fluidized bed system which combines a central fast riser (15) and a special air distribution system made of parallel air headers (3) is disclosed. A central fast riser (15) works in concert with the natural hydrodynamic properties of bubbles in a fluidized bed to promote turbulence and internal circulation of the dense phase (17), thereby assuring good solids mixing and dispersion of injected fuels, sorbents, and additives. A special air distribution system made of parallel air headers (3) with up to 50 % open area allows uniform and balanced withdrawal of spent solids. Oversized agglomerates are instantaneously removed when formed, assuring continuous and effective operation.</p> |
