PURPOSE: To enable efficient mode matched pumping by specifying the folding angle of a zigzag-shaped resonator part. CONSTITUTION: The diameter of a fiber 28 is selected so that the area to be pumped can be matched with the size of mode of a laser. The diffusion of radiations from a laser diode in the other direction of a resonator plane is matched with the folding angle of a zigzag-shaped path for a TEMoo beam to pass through the block of solid laser materials 12. That folding angle is larger than about 5 deg. and smaller than about 20 deg., preferably, smaller than about 10 deg.. Thus, efficient mode matched pumping is enabled by the pumping source of a laser diode. |
