A COUPLING COMPONENT FOR A LIGHT-WAVEGUIDE

A coupling component (10) for a light-waveguide (41) is proposed which can be inserted into a groove in a light-waveguide. The coupling component (10) has a transmission (3) and receiving (2) component oriented in the direction of propagation of the radiation in the waveguide (41). The coupling component (10) is potted in a transparent compound (9) with about the same refractive index as the waveguide (41). This arrangement keeps losses down and interfering reflections do not occur. The coupling component (10) may be fitted at any point on the waveguide (41) without the need to cut the latter. No special precision is needed in making the groove.
