<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compsn. having thixotropic properties, no ink leakage from a pen point when ink is stored, good ink flow when writing, no adhesion of ink scum on the pen point and fast drying of handwritings by incorporating a specified polymeric polysaccharide at a specified range of loading. CONSTITUTION:A water-base ball-point pen ink compsn. is prepd. by incorporating 0.01 to 2.0wt.% high-mol.wt. polysaccharide of the formula (wherein M is Na, K or Li; (n) is 1,000 to 3,000) in a water-base ink. As the ink compsn. obtd. by said method exhibits thixotropic properties, the ink viscosity is high in an ink container and no ink leakage occurs from the pen point. As the viscosity of the ink is lowered by the rotation of a ball when writing, flow properties of the ink is good. In addition, the compsn. exhibits such characteristics that no ink scum adheres on the pen point, drying of handwritings is fast and storage stability is excellent.</p> |
