This invention provides a method for applying a coating on an embosser roll used for embossing polyolefin film-fibril sheets. The coating comprises a primer layer formed from an aqueous suspension of polytetrafluoroethylene with chromic acid and phosphoric acid and a topcoat layer of polytetrafluoroethylene or perfluorinated polyvinyl ether copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and poly(propyl vinyl ether).
