Argon gas laser with integrated mirrors - has damping elements and/or bracing to counteract vibrations in range 10 to 1,000 Hz

The mirrors are joined to the laser's vacuum vessel. In one design the damping elements (8,9) support the mountings (5,6) by means of which the storage vessels (3,4) for the mirrors (1,2) are mechanically attached to an external housing. The damping elements comprise regions of hard material encompassed by softer masses. In a second design the damping element is in the form of a ring located at the point where the larger diameter of the storage vessel narrows to a capillary section. A holder plate between the extremities of the unit provides additional damping. ADVANTAGE - Improvement in periodic stability of laser intensity.
