A method for reducing potential subterranean formation damage due to metal carbonate and/or hydroxide precipitation in pore spaces when using clear completion fluids comprises stabilizing the pH of said fluid with a buffing composition. By use of this method, high density brines and especially calcium and zinc containing fluids are prevented from forming insoluble compounds through interaction with formation matrix or with dissolved carbon dioxide. |
