<p>A process for detecting the presence of a Pneumocystis carinii infection in a mammal is described in which Pneumocystis carinii encoded nucleic acids are detected in the blood of an infected mammal by means of nucleic acid hybridization, preferably using a polymerase chain reaction.</p> |
