<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer for the subject copolyester fibers having enhanced dyeability and improved recovery from compression by polycondensation of a mixture of terephthalic acid, a lower alkylene glycol and a specified amount of a poly (tetramethylene ether) glycol. CONSTITUTION: This polymer, a copolyester, is obtained by polycondensation of a mixture of (A) terephthalic acid as acid component and (B) a lower alkylene glycol as glycol component and (C) a poly (tetramethylene ether) glycol with a molecular weight of 500-1,500; wherein the amount of the component C is such that the aimed fibers contain 9-17 wt.% of the comonomer unit derived from the component C.</p> |
