PURPOSE:To prohibit a printer from being operated when a waste toner recovering unit is disposed and to prevent printing data from being damaged by permitting a detecting means to generate a signal indicating that the waste toner recovering unit is nearly full with waste toner even if the unit is not inserted in a normal position and repeating the detection with a timer means and stopping the action of the printer with a drive stopping means. CONSTITUTION:Even when the waste toner recovering unit 1 is not inserted in the normal position, a waste toner detecting means A generates the signal indicating that the unit is nearly full with waste toner, and the timer means B repeats the detection, then the drive stopping means D stops the action of the printer. Therefore, even when the waste toner recovering unit 1 is not inserted in the normal position, that can be detected before printing is started. Moreover, an additional sensor detecting the presence or absence of the waste toner recovering unit 1 is not needed. Consequently, valued printing data can be prevented from being damaged under this inexpensive constitution. |
