PURPOSE:To obtain a picture signal whose noise is reduced by mixing the picture signal and an unsharp signal generated from the picture signal by using a weighted parameter selected according to each density level of a picture. CONSTITUTION:An original G is subscanned and conveyed by a conveying means, and the continuous gradation picture of the original G is main-scanned through converging optical system 12 by a CCD 14 of a photoelectric-converting means. The continuous gradation picture photoelectric-converted by the CCD 14 is converted into the picture signal S as a digital signal according to a main scanning clock signal phix from a clock generator 16 by an A/D converter 18. A picture processing part 20 gives picture processing such as smoothing processing, sharpening processing and mesh dissolving processing, etc., to the picture signal S according to the main scanning clock signal phix and a subscanning clock signal phiy from the clock generator 16, and outputs the picture signal as a binary mesh point picture signal R to a picture recording part 22. Thus, the noise can be reduced extending over a wide range from a shadow part to a highlight part. |
