MAGNETIC SIGNAL GENERATION DEVICE AND MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of a magnetic tape and errors in recording by displaying the number of recording times and reproducing times of the magnetic tape of its own. CONSTITUTION:An accumulative recording times display magnetic signal (a) or an accumulative reproducing times display magnetic signal (b) are recorded on the channel 2 side 4b of a sound signal track out of signal track patterns recorded on the magnetic tape 1. The signal (b) is recorded consecutively and alternately with the signal (a) and a blank signal (c) is inserted just after the signal (b) in order to be discriminated from a recording times display signal. Since both signals (a) and (b) are alternately and consecutively recorded, the number of recording times and reproducing times on the respective parts of the tape 1 can be displayed at real time while the tape 1 is traveling. Even when the same cassette of the tape 1 is used, the part where the number of recording times or reproducing times is different is confirmed at a glance and the part which is suitable for recording and reproducing is easily retrieved.
