[Also in Divisions C3 and C4] The azomethine pigment of the formula: having a mean particle size not exceeding 2.0 microns is used to colour coating mediums, and stoving laquers. Example 8 describes colouring an alkyd melamine stoving laquer containing a coconut glycol alkyd resin of non drying type, xylene and 2-methoxyethanol with a paste of the pigment in a carbamate resin the laquer then being coated on cardboard and stoved at 120‹C for 30 minutes. Example 9 describes colouring an emulsion paint containing a polyvinyl acetate emulsion with a paste of the pigment in water and sodium dinaphthyl methane disulphonate the paint then being applied in film form to cardboard. Example 10 describes a stain mixture containing by weight 65 parts pigment, 138 parts of an unmodified butylated melamine-formaldehyde resin in n-butanol, 452 parts xylene and 350 parts of a solution of an hydroxy acrylic resin in a 1:1 mixture of xylene and n-butanol to give on thinning a sprayable paint which may be applied to aluminium panels by spraying and then stoved at 120‹C for 30 minutes.</p> |
