PURPOSE:To prevent shortcircuit due to the corrosion of a heat resistant metal as a cell component and the elusion of a metal ion, and stabilize cell characteristics by sealing a flat cell and a gas separator with high viscosity molten glass for filling a pocket formed around the periphery of each cell. CONSTITUTION:A flat cell 1 is constituted with an electrolyte layer 2, an anode 3 and a cathode 4. Gas passage boards 5 and 6 clamping the cell 1 comprises a heat resistant metal, and respectively have supply spaces 5' and 6' for cathode and anode gases. The lower gas passage board 6 has an integrated pocket 7. In addition, molten glass 8 for filling the pocket 7 ensures the sealing of gases, and in particular the inner surface of the pocket 7 in contact with the molten glass 6 is covered with ceramics. According to construction, corrosion due to the molten glass 8 is prevented and a drop in cell characteristics is restrained. |
