PURPOSE:To easily recognize the sum amount of one's purchased goods with a shopping basket used in a supermarket by making a bar code reader installed to the basket to read bar codes on the purchased goods. CONSTITUTION:A shopping basket used in a supermarket is provided with a bar code reading section 11, addition key 12 for making addition of an amount, subtraction key 13 for making subtraction of an amount, bar code reading device 1 displaying a sum amount, price collating section 2 for retrieving goods, sum amount calculating section 3 which makes addition and subtraction, storing section 4 and displaying section 5 at its rear section. When purchased goods are to be added, the key 12 is pressed so as to set the section 3 to the addition mode. Then bar codes on the goods are read by the bar code reading section 11 and a read result is displayed in a display window 14 as a sum amount by means of the summed price displaying section 5. Therefore, customers can recognize the sum amount of the goods they have purchased. |
