PURPOSE:To enable easy and proper repairs without overhauling a stack by pushing a conductive separator made carbon plate of non-gas transmission quality for replacing a damaged unit cell. CONSTITUTION:A conductive separator 12 comprising a carbon plate of non-gas transmission quality of approximately the same thickness as a unit cell, is divided into a plurality like strips toward the pushing direction of a damaged unit cell 1A, and the rigidity of the separator 12 is thereby enhanced. A bonding agent is applied to the edge of the separator 12 and the separator 12A is first pushed while a load is being applied in a pushing direction. Then, the separator 12B is similarly pushed. According to the described procedures, damaged unit cells are pushed out sideward in sequence and replaced with the separator 12. A stack 10 after the damaged cell is replaced with the separator 12, comes to have a current flow passage formed with the separator 12, and a gas seal part bonded airtightly with a bonding agent layer 13. According to this construction, a highly reliable repair work can be easily carried out without overhauling the stack. |
