PURPOSE:To enable detection of the quantity of ink contained in impregnation in stuffing cottons of an ink-occluding body, with ease and at low cost, by measuring the amplitude of an electric current flowing through the stuffing cottons of the ink-occluding body. CONSTITUTION:Stuffing cottons 2 of an ink-occluding body 1 is impregnated with electroconductive ink, and a pair of electrodes 3 and 3' are inserted from openings in the opposite end faces of the ink-occluding body 1 to a part a little inside of the opposite ends of the stuffing cottons 2, while a circuit is constructed by a power source 4 of the electrodes 3 and 3' and a detector 5. Then, the paired electrodes 3 and 3' are brought into contact with the stuffing cottons 2 at prescribed positions, a prescribed voltage is applied between the two electrodes 3 and 3' and the voltage at that time is measured by the detector 5. Besides, a reference current corresponding to a reference quantity of the ink with which the stuffing cottons 2 are impregnated is calculated beforehand from the correlation between the quantity of the ink and the current. By comparing a measured value of the current with a reference current value, the quantity of the ink with which the stuffing cottons 2 are impregnated can be detected. |
