The microhardness of alloyed nickel-phosphorus coatings is high and comparable to hard chromium. The electrolyte for the cathodic deposition thereof consists of a water solution with a concentration per 1,000 g of water of 50 to 400 g of nickel salts, 10 to 60 g of sodium hypophosphite, ammonium hypophosphite or nickel hypophosphite, 80 to 200 g of magnesium salt and 1 to 50 g of halogenides, mainly sodium bromide, potassium bromide or nickel bromide and wetting agent. This alloyed coating is suitable mainly for metal deposition of turbo-compressor blades, for increasing the durability of working machines, renovation of worn-out rotary parts, etc.
