PRODUCTION OF CAROTENOID DYESTUFF

摘要

PURPOSE:To economically obtain a carotenoid dyestuff comparable with krill by culturing Phaffia rhodozyma OCM-1 strain of red yeast. CONSTITUTION:A culture mixture of Phaffia rhodozyma OCM-1 strain of red yeast is inoculated into a medium adjusted to proper C/N ratio and pH, aerobically fermented at <=25 deg.C and the cell is collected when fermentation reaches a lag phase. Then the cell is dried at low temperature, then optionally ground or extracted with a hydrophobic solvent such as chloroform or pyridine to give a carotenoid dyestuff consisting essentially of astaxanthin shown by the formula.
