PURPOSE:To clean the print face of a thermal head reliably by rotating a platen with a cleaning sheet impregnated with cleaning liquid being held between the print face of the thermal head and the platen then passing the cleaning sheet between the print face of the thermal head and the platen with the cleaning sheet being pressed by them. CONSTITUTION:Tip portion of a cleaning sheet 21 is inserted between a platen 4 and a thermal head 5 then the surface of the cleaning sheet 21 is pressure contacted with the print face of the thermal head 5 through pressure contact force of the thermal head 5 with respect to the platen 4. Then the platen 4 is rotated counter clockwise and the cleaning sheet 21 is passed between the platen 4 and the thermal head 5. At this time the cleaning sheet 21 is compressed partially through pressure contact force of the thermal head 5 with respect to the platen 4 thus feeding the cleaning sheet 21 with large frictional force over the entire print face of the thermal head 5. By such arrangement, ink particles or paper powder adhering onto the print face of the thermal head 5 are peeled off the print face. |
