PURPOSE:To produce composite rolls, etc. having high abrasion resistance easily and inexpensively by sticking molten metal to a metallic core bar and allowing the same to solidify then working this under pressure. CONSTITUTION:In the case of producing a composite roll, round steel 2 which is cold material is immersed into molten metal 1 to stick the molten metal around the same by utilizing the cooling capacity of the round steel per se, whereby a composite ingot is obtained. Upon lapse of a constant time, this is drawn out from the molten metal. In this state, it is impossible to melt stick the molten steel perfectly around the round steel and therefore, the drawn out ingot is heated and forged whereby the melt stuck metal 3 is thoroughly stuck by forging to the steel 2. Here, the metal 3 which is melt stuck to the round steel and forms the surface layer part of the roll has good cleanliness when quickly cooled, and since it adhere tightly to the round steel uniformly like shrinkage fit and contains no air, the sticking by forging is easy. |
