PURPOSE:To obtain a high temp. ingot of superior shapes and quality by arranging the upper, lower rolls beyond the leveling point of a curved continuous casting machine asymmetrically thereby preventing bulging. CONSTITUTION:In a curved continuous casting machine, a part or the whole of the rolls beyond the upper horizontal guide roll 3h and lower horizontal guide roll 4h after the leveling point are arranged asymmetrically. A strand 2 is cooled gently with this device and is insulated of heat in the machine. The generation of molten metal pools and cavities in the crater 6 of the strand 2 up to a crater end 7b is obviated. In this way, the high temp. ingot of superior shapes and quality is obtained. |
