摘要 PURPOSE:To directly convert concentration difference energy between electrolytes into electric energy by using a gas diffusion electrode in a negative electrode or a positive electrode, partitioning an electrolytic bath into a negative chamber and a positive chamber with an ion permeable separator placed between the negative electrode and the positive electrode, and putting electrolytes having different ion concentrations into the electrode chambers. CONSTITUTION:Gas diffusion electrodes 1, 1' are formed by bonding reaction layers 5, 5' in which hydrophobic pores and hydrophilic pores supported with catalyst exist. Its hydrogen oxidation-reduction capacity is several hundred times higher thin that of a platinum plate, and reaction resistance is remarkably decreased. Since the internal resistance of a battery becomes sufficiently low, current is efficiently taken out. An anion exchange membrane is used, the gas diffusion electrodes 1, 1' are used in positive and negative electrodes, hydrogen gas of 1 atm is introduced into a gas chamber 4 of the gas diffusion electrode 1, 6M/l hydrochloric acid is put as a positive solution 3' and 5M/l NaOH is put as a negative solution 3. Electromotive force of a battery shows 62mV at 22 deg.C.
