PURPOSE:To obtain a high contrast and to improve recording or displaying characteristic by providing a dielectric layer which is formed by incorporating a resin having at least >=5,000 number average mol. wt. and conductive fine particles on the surface of an image holding member. CONSTITUTION:A diffusion reflecting layer 2 and the dielectric layer 3 are laminated to one surface of a conductive base 1. The resin having at least >=5,000 number average mol. wt. and the conductive fine particles having 0.01 to 5mum particle size are incorporated into the dielectric layer 3, by which the dielectric layer can be formed without deteriorating the coating quality and the durability, such as wear resistance and flaw resistance are improved. An impressed voltage is eventually impressed more on the dielectric layer 3 than on the reflecting layer 2 if the electric resistance of the layer 2 is smaller than the electric resistance of the layer 3. The increase of the film thickness of the layer 2 is thus possible and the whiteness is improved. This effect is particularly remarkable when the volume resistivity of the layer 2 is <=10<12>OMEGA.cm. The contrast is thereby extremely increased. |
