PURPOSE:To keep water-holding properties and improve printing capacities by treating the pretreated surface of a supporter with an aqueous solution containing carboxylate selected from a group comprising carboxylates of metal of the periodic table Ia, IIb, IIIb, IVa, IVb, Via, VIII groups and ammonium salts of carboxylic acids, and providing thereafter a light-sensitive layer on said surface. CONSTITUTION:The pretreated surface of a supporter is treated with an aqueous solution containing one or more than one kind of carboxylate selected from a group comprising carboxylate of metal of the periodic table Ia, IIb, IIIb, IVa, IVb, VIa, and VIII groups and ammonium salt of carboxylic acid, and thereafter a light-sensitive layer is provided on said surface. As a supporter, for example, aluminum, magnesium etc., can be used, which has such flexibility that enables setting of supporter into a printing machine and can bear the load during printing. As a pretreatment, ordinary fat removal and surface roughening processes are employed. Carboxylates to be used are preferably, in particular, sodium formate, potassium formate, sodium acetate etc. The pretreated supporter is dipped into an aqueous solution(0.001-10wt.%) containing carboxylates or treatment liquid is applied to the surface of the supporter. |
