PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce the optical fiber with a lens having good quality with high mass productivity by fixing the optical fiber to a holder and applying an org. material on the end face thereof to a hemispherical shape and then curing the org. material. CONSTITUTION:The production process for the optical fiber with the lens formed with the lens on the top end of the optical fiber is constituted to fix the optical fiber by an adhesive or solder to the central hole of the optical fiber holder having the central hole larger than the outside diameter of the optical fiber and to apply the liquid transparent org. material on the end face of the optical fiber holder and the optical fiber to approximately the hemispherical shape, then to cure the org. material. The production is possible even without a special apparatus for production in the production process of this constitution. The simultaneous execution of the curing of the org. material or the softening of glass is possible for many pieces and, therefore, the mass productivity is high and cost is reduced. Since the surface tension of the liquid org. material or the softened glass is utilized, the lens has the smooth surface having no ruggedness and flaws. |
