PURPOSE:To rapidly and accurately measure the budding ratio of yeast without using manual operation by providing the measuring method with a process for extracting plural cells to be measured, a process for computing the shape factors alpha of respective cells to be measured and a process for discriminating the shapes of respective cells to be measured. CONSTITUTION:An image for measuring the budding ratio of yeast is accessed from a storage part 11 in a microcomputer 5, plotting processing is executed, a noise component is removed, and an image extracting only the yeast is obtained. Then the shape factors (shape factor indicating roundness) of respec tive yeast components of the image extracting only the yeast components are calculated. The shape factors alpha of respective yeast components are found out, and when the shape factor alpha is >=1, the shape of the yeast is a circle or an ellipse and indicates unbudded yeast, and when the shape factor is 1>alpha>0.7, the shape of the yeast in an irregular shape and indicates budded yeast. Thus, the budding ratio of the yeast can be rapidly and accurately measured without using manual operation. |
