<p>1307148 Resistance furnace A WERTLI 23 June 1971 [15 Jan 1971] 29432/71 Heading H5H A resistance heated melting or holding furnace with refractory walls for a horizontal continuous casting apparatus having a mould con- nected to the furnace wherein resistance heating rods 4 are disposed in the vicinity of the furnace bottom in the furnace wall 2, the rods being protected from direct contact with the melt 1. As shown the rods 4 are in holes 5 in the furnace walls, the walls providing the protection. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the rods are mounted in channel-like recesses in the furnace bottom wall and are covered by a good thermally conducting plate of, e.g. graphite. A mould 6 with cooling means 7 is connected to the furnace.</p> |
