摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting material having a dense superconducting phase by forming a molten zone at a part of a sintered raw material rod to precipitate a superconducting phase as initial crystal and moving the molten zone in the longitudinal direction of the sintered rod, thereby leaving a crystal- oriented part after the passage of said molten zone. CONSTITUTION:A molten zone is formed at a part of a sintered raw material rod made of a ceramic superconducting material. The molten zone has a composition to precipitate a superconducting phase by using a part of said sintered rod as an initial crystal. The molten zone is moved in the longitudinal direction of said sintered rod to form a grown crystal imparted with crystal orientation at a part left after the passage of the molten zone. A crystal for superconducting is constantly precipitated from the molten zone by the above process and the raw material is supplied from the sintered raw material rod to the molten zone to an extent corresponding to the precipitated amount. Accordingly, the crystal grown from the molten zone by coagulation forms a superconducting phase e. g. as a single phase. A dense superconducting material can be produced because the crystal is grown through the molten zone.
