<p>PURPOSE:To emphasize only a signal component without emphasizing a noise component by forming an image signal for emphasizing a feature part of an image signal from an original image obtained from the image of an original. CONSTITUTION:Whether the distribution shape of an image signal (Sij) on a target point (i, j) is projected in the upper direction, projected in the lower direction, or the other shape is decided. In the case of the upper projection, a signal obtained by substituting an image emphasis signal (SGij) larger than the image signal (Sij) on the target point (i, j) for the signal Sij is outputted as a new image signal (S'ij). In the case of the lower projection, a signal obtained by substituting an image emphasis signal (SLij) smaller than the image signal (Sij) on the target point (i, j) for the image signal (Sij) is outputted as a new image signal (S'ij). In the other case, a signal substituted for the original image signal (Sij) or an unsharp signal (Uij) is outputted as a new image signal (S'ij). Consequently, only the feature part of the signal component can be sharply emphasized without emphasizing the noise component to emphasize the outline of the image.</p> |
