In this apparatus, comprising a chamber consisting of a mould 3 and of a cover 4, means for gripping in a leaktight manner a blank (sheet, plate or metal sheet) of material between the edges of the mould and of the cover, and means for introducing between the blank and the cover a fluid under a pressure sufficient to deform the blank and apply it against the inner surface of the mould, the means for gripping the blank 1 between the mould 3 and the cover 4 comprise at least one inflatable bladder 8 inserted between one of the parts of the chamber, namely the mould 3 or the cover 4 and a counterpiece. The latter consists advantageously of a tubular casing 14 having, on the inside, a housing with a shape complementing that of the said chamber and delimited by removable upper 15, lower 16 and lateral 17 semi-cylindrical intermediate pieces. <IMAGE>
