PURPOSE:To reduce the transverse size in the specific part of a slab from the transverse size of the other part by disposing clutches respectively to the crank shaft driving power transmission system and pinch roll driving power transmission system of driving mechanisms. CONSTITUTION:Roller table drivers 28a, 28b are stopped and the clutches 23 are disengaged when the end faces in the transverse direction W of the specific part of the slab 1 desired to be drastically reduced in size progresses to the position facing dies 4a. Further, the pinch rolls 20a, 20b and roller tables 27a, 27b are stopped by acting the brake function of a transmission 21 to interrupt the transportation of the slab 1 and to execute edging of the specific part of the slab 1. |
