The elastic universal joint (1) is for joining machine-parts, esp two vehicle steering parts. It has one half in the form of a radially outer metal housing (3) with cylindrical toggle joint (5). The other link half is in the form of a central link for attaching to the other machine section. A hollow spherical elastomeric layer over the spherical inner surface is joined to the outer surface of the spherical part of the universal joint. A middle cylindrical outer section (7) adheres to the inner casing of the toggle joint (5). The end holes of the toggle joint each fit into two annular end-pieces. The ratio of the dia between the OD (15) of the spherical part (7) and the ID (16) of the toggle joint is equal to or less then 0.75. USE/ADVANTAGE - The elastic universal joint has greater range of movement.
