A process for the preparation of mixtures of polyamides and polyarylene sulphides according to claims 1 and 2 is characterised in that a mixture of epsilon -caprolactam and polyarylene sulfide is heated to from 270 to 290 DEG C, preferably to from 275 to 280 DEG C, at the beginning of the hydrolytic polymerisation of lactam, and the polymerisation is then completed at from 260 to 270 DEG C.
