Vehicle fuel vapour trap - has regenerated active carbon filter with vertically movable container

Fuel vapour trap consists of a regenerated activee carbon filter and has an active carbon container, feed and offtake and a filter regenerating device. The container (7) should float for vertical movement in a second similarly closed partly fluid-filled container (2), the carbon container fitted with flexible feed and offtake (4, 9) lines. The outer container (2) is fitted with a measuring device which checks the immersion depth of the carbon container to indicate its carbon content. Pref. the displacing fluid in the outer container is a heavy, pporly combusting oil. USE/ADVANTAGE - Spark-ignition engines. Adsorbed fuel vapour is weighed in displacement fluid unaffected by engine speed, angle etc, enabling effective and timely filter regenerating.
