Measuring dust developed by movement of bulk material - letting sample fall in measuring chamber and registering reductions in intensity of defined light beam

A definite amt. by wt. of the product to be tested is allowed to fall freely from a definite height through a pipe (3) into a closed container (4) of defined dimensions. The reduction in intensity of a light beam from a source (5) is detected by a photocell (6) for a set time. The photocell has a correction filter. The sealing for the light source and photocell is provided by glass windows with releasable rubber edging. The measurement carried out by the photocell is evaluated by a converter (7) producing a linear, normalised output signal from the photocell current to supply a measuring amplifier (8). USE - Continuous or periodic measuring allowing action to be taken, e.g. if dust signifies coarsening of granules or chance in grain size.
