PURPOSE:To make recording sure and appropriate and to prevent useless consumption of ink sheets by providing an optical detecting means detecting whether a recording sheet is colored by a heating means and constituting such that the recording sheet carried to a recording part is detected as being plain recording paper or heat sensitive paper. CONSTITUTION:When a facsimile equipment 1 cathodes the detection timing with the aid of detecting signals from a cassette sensor 3, a door switch 26, etc., one recording sheet 4 is fed from a recording sheet cassette 2, and a heater 14 is driven to heat the recording sheet 14 traveling on a guide plate 10. The heater 4 heats the recording sheet 4. Then, if the recording sheet 4 is heat sensitive paper, it is colored, whereas if the recording sheet 4 is plain recording paper, it is not colored. A recording paper discriminating sensor 15 detects whether the recording sheet 4 is colored or not, and judges whether the recording sheet 4 is heat sensitive recording paper or plain recording paper. |
