PURPOSE:To restrain adsorption of hydrophobic chemical components such as insulin while maintaining high safety by treating the liquid contact part of a medical tool having the liquid contact part with chemicals containing hydrophobic materials to make them hydrophilic. CONSTITUTION:By blending a surfactant to a base material forming a medical tool for coating the surface of the base material with the surfactant or subjecting the liquid contact part of the base material to plasma treatment, corona discharge treatment, or UV irradiation treatment, its liquid contact part is made hydrophilic. The concentration of the surfactant present in the liquid contact part for the hydrophilicity- imparting treatment is limited to the range of 10<-10>g/cm<3> to 10<-2>g/cm<3>. In the method of blending the surfactant to the base material, the hydrophobic part of the surfactant eluted from the liquid contact-part surface of the base material as the lapse of time is adsorbed to the surface of the material by hydrophobic interaction, and the hydrophilic part is extended from the base material, so that the base material surface is consequently made hydrophilic, and adsorption of hydrophobic material can be restrained. In this case, as the surfactant used for treatment to provide hydrophilic property is positively made present preliminarily in the liquid contact part of the base material constituting the medical tool, the used amount can be considerably reduced. |
