Umbrella with a one-piece or telescopic shaft and a principal slide and an auxiliary slide for actuating the set of ribs of the canopy, which, by means of a compression spring arranged between the two slides, opens automatically and closes when a tubular pulling device, which slides along the shaft, is pulled manually downwards, the principal and auxiliary slides resting slidably on the tubular pulling device, the latter, when the umbrella is closed, being linked to the auxiliary slide by means of an entrainment device and held in a locking device in the umbrella handle when the umbrella is closed. In this type of umbrella, it has been observed that the high torsion forces produced by the actuation spring give rise to distortions in the assembly which produces angular misalignments between the slides in the positions of coupling and holding of the locking device, when the umbrella is closing or is closed. To solve this problem, the present invention proposes that both the principal slide 6 and the auxiliary slide 1 should be able to rotate about the tubular pulling device 2. The present invention is applicable to the manufacture of umbrellas, particularly umbrellas with automatic opening mechanisms. <IMAGE>
