PURPOSE:To provide a chemically stable optical recording system having sensitivity higher than that of a Te-alloy medium and good in S/N of regeneration, constituted such that a recording layer based on naphthoquinone coloring matter is provided and the recording and the regeneration of information due to laser beam is performed from a substrate side. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer based on naphthoquinone coloring matter shown by a formula I [wherein R is OH, NH2, NHX or NX2, R' is OH, NH2, NHX, NX2 or a formula II (wherein X is alkyl and X<1> is H, alkyl, aryl, amino or substituted amino)][one generically mentioned as 2, 3-dicyano-1, 4-naphthoquinone. e.g., 5-amino-2, 3-dicyano-80(4'-butylanilino)-1,4-naphthoquinone] is provided to the single side of a substrate to obtain an optical recording system for performing the recording and the regeneration of information from a substrate side by utilizing the change of substance due to laser beam. |
