METHOD FOR DESALTING PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE EMULSION

PURPOSE:To efficiently remove the excess water in the emulsion by dehydrating the emulsion after coagulation and sedimentation by a press dehydrating device and reducing the pressure in the device. CONSTITUTION:A liquid contg. the coagulated and settled emulsion is charged into a cylindrical container 3 and a valve 13 is opened to discharge the supernatant liquid which is filtered with a screen 4 by a pump 6 and is accumulated in a chamber 14 provided to separate air and the supernatant liquid. The emulsion 7 remaining on the screen as a residue 4 is pushed by a top plate 2 mounted to an actuator 1 by which the emulsion is press-dehydrated. The pump 6 is stopped when the filtrate is no more discharged from the pump 6. The valve 13 is then closed and a valve 12 is opened. The air in the chamber 14 is further sucked by a vacuum pump 5, by which the moisture of the emulsion 7 is removed.
