PURPOSE:To improve measurement performance by bringing scintillator members which are provided in a box body and have resilience into proximity or tight contact to or with the surface of a human body or article so as to press the member to the body or article. CONSTITUTION:The human body 1 is pinched from the front and rear by the bag-shaped thin-film members 7 which are provided in the box body 6, are formed to the freely expandable and contractable thin-film bag shape and are filled internally with a gaseous or liquid scintillation material. Air is supplied into a reserve tank 9 and the scintillation material in the tank 9 is supplied into the bag-shaped thin-film members 7 and is expanded to bring the members into proximity or tight contact to or with the human body 1 so as to press the members thereto. Radiations 5 radiated from a radioactive contaminating material 4 sticking to the surface of the human body 1, therefore, plunge into the internal scintillation material via the thin-film members 7. The scintillation light propagating in the scintillation material and arriving at photodetectors 8 is displayed after arithmetic processing. The measurement of the heavy charge particles, such as alpha rays, which are short in flight is facilitated in this way and the measurement performance is improved.
