<p>A CPU 1, responding to a key input from a keyboard, issues a parameter read-in command to an HDC (15). Upon receiving the parameter read-in command, the HDC (15) reads out from a predetermined sector of an HDD (17) parameters of the HDD (17) such as the number of heads, the number of cylinders and the number of sectors per track. The read-out parameters are set in a sector buffer (15a), and the CPU 1 is interrupted. In response to the interrupt signal, the CPU 1 reads the parameters from the HDC (15) and stores them in a battery backup memory. In addition, the CPU 1 discriminates the type of the HDD (15) on the basis of the parameters and enables a display (29) to display the discriminated type and the parameters of the HDD (15).</p> |
