<p>An inlet water line connector (25) for connecting an inlet water line (11) to the end of a water faucet shank (13) having external threads (14) on the outer cylindrical surface thereof. The body (26, 28) has an opening therethrough into the first end of which an inlet water tube (11) of a predetermined outer diameter may be inserted. The body (26, 28) has an outer tapered surface (37) for fitting within and engaging a tapered internal inlet region (15) of the faucet shank (13). The outer tapered surface (37) of the body (26, 28) has a forced fit with the tapered internal inlet region (15) of the faucet shank (13). A retention member (30) is disposed within the body (26, 28) and has a relaxed state and a holding state. The retention element (30) remains in its relaxed state as the water line (11) is inserted through the body (26, 28) whereby it is in spaced relation to the water line (11). The retention element (30) is moved into its holding state after the water line (11) has been inserted through the body (26, 28) to place the retention element (30) into intimate contact with the water line (11).</p> |
