<p>PURPOSE:To produce a Bupleurum plant having uniform quality and high content of saponin which is an active ingredient by culturing the plant in a culture medium where ratio of mol concentration of nitric acid ion and aluminum ion is controlled to a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:Root cut off from a plant body is cultured by a well-known method. In a culture medium used, nitric acid ion mol concentration of normal solid medium and liquid medium is controlled to about 1.5-20 times, preferably about 2-4 times ammonium ion mol concentration. The resultant cultured root is further cultured for several days in a culture medium where nitric acid ion mol concentration is ammonium ion mol concentration or below to produce a plant. The culture is preferably carried out under dark condition.</p> |
