A new product for feeding ruminants, which is stable in a medium in which the pH is equal to or above 5.5 and which permits the release of an active principle in a medium in which the pH is below or equal to 3.5, characterized in that it consists of an active substance or of a composition containing the active substance which contains inclusions of, or which is completely or partially covered by, a composition containing a substance which is sensitive to pH variations whose extend and rate of swelling are greater in an acidic medium than in a neutral medium, said active substance or composition containing active substance being coated with a layer of a hydrophobic composition.
