PURPOSE:To reduce artifact and to improve the sharpness of an image by increasing the rate of the 2nd secondary image data having high sharpness to the 1st secondary image having less artifact in an area in which the primary image data are frequently changed in accordance with a characteristic value. CONSTITUTION:Secondary image data S1, S2 are found out by interpolation operating means 1, 2, the characteristic value S3 of a high frequency component of primary image data S0 is found out by a filtering means 3 and weighted and averaged secondary image data S4 are found out by an averaging operation part 4 so that the ratio of the S2 to the S1 is increased in the area where the S0 is frequently changed in accordance with S3. In the case of a radiation image carried by the S4, the S1 having low sharpness and a dull artifact is emphasized in a plane area having a small density change and the S2 having high sharpness is emphasized in the area having a sharp density change. Consequently, expanding processing suppressing the generation of artifact can be attained while holding the sharpness of the whole image. |
